Greenpeace Australia Pacific activists hold signs with photos of climate change impacts at the Federal Court of Australia. Greenpeace Australia Pacific takes fossil fuel company Woodside Energy to the Federal Court of Australia, alleging Woodside is misleading &/or deceiving the Australian public about the enormous climate harm of its gas & oil projects. Greenpeace argues that Woodside’s statements are designed to make investors, governments and the general public think it is reducing its emissions, when in truth the company’s emissions are increasing. If successful, the Federal Court case could improve transparency of disclosure on part of major companies in Australia, forcing fossil fuel companies to be up front about the scope and impact of their business plans. Greenpeace activists gather outside the Federal Court to reaffirm that Greenpeace won’t stand idly by as one of this country’s largest fossil fuel exporters – a company that is profiteering from climate devastation – tries to bury the truth of its operations in the fineprint.

Greenpeace Australia Pacific holds a koala-themed action at Melbourne’s Clifton Hill McDonald’s, calling on the fast food giant to eliminate deforested beef from its supply chain. Activists dressed as koalas hold a giant banner reading “Take Deforestation off the Menu”. Australia has one of the world’s worst rates of deforestation, driven largely by the bulldozing of forests for beef production. McDonald’s is one of the largest purchasers of this beef, and is contributing to the extinction of iconic native species such as the koala. Greenpeace is calling on McDonald’s to eliminate deforested beef from its supply chain by 2025.
